How do I maintain my home?

I want to bring value to you guys with this blog so I plan to write a series of posts about home maintenance.  I thought it would be a good idea to go through a typical inspection section by section.  Generally when I am inspecting residences, the same repair items come up.  This is probably somewhat particular to our area in southern Wisconsin.  Other parts of the country have other items that are regulars in many home inspection reports I’m sure.

Basically, a typical inspection report is sectioned off in the following areas:

  • Lots and Grounds
  • Exterior
  • Garage/Carport1539609728511
  • Roof
  • Attic
  • Electrical
  • Structural
  • Basement
  • Air Conditioning
  • Fireplace/Woodstove1540644732716
  • Heating System
  • Plumbing System
  • Bedrooms/Living Space
  • Kitchen
  • Laundry Room

My hope is that these posts will provide ideas on how to keep your home in better repair and also provide some ideas for improvements to your current maintenance program.

Please check back regularly over the next several weeks for great tips on home maintenance.

As always, I am here to help if you have any questions regarding: home maintenance, home inspection, indoor air quality, basically anything related to your home and will help in any way I can.  I am also available to perform annual home maintenance inspections. Our previous clients are eligible for discounts on our home maintenance inspection program.
